Music Lessons in La Cañada Flintridge, CA

Private instruction for every age and level, under ten minutes from La Cañada. Guitar, piano, voice, drums, violin and more. On Honolulu Ave since 1953.

A Short Drive From La Cañada

A full music school, closer than you think.

Grayson's Tune Town has been at 2415 Honolulu Ave in Montrose since 1953. From most of La Cañada Flintridge it is under a ten minute drive, which puts a weekly lesson comfortably inside an ordinary afternoon rather than making an event of it.

What you find when you get here is not a single teacher renting a back room. It is ten dedicated studios and roughly twenty instructors, which means we can match a student to the right teacher rather than to whoever happens to have a Tuesday open. That depth is unusual for a neighborhood shop, and it is the reason the lesson program has kept growing for decades.

We teach guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, piano, voice, drums, violin, brass and woodwinds, seven days a week. Beginners who have never held an instrument, and advanced players preparing for college auditions.

Why La Cañada Families Choose Grayson's

Six reasons families here have chosen us for decades.

🏦

Since 1953

Four generations of one family have run this shop from the same address. Not many businesses around here have stayed in one place, doing one thing, for over seventy years.

A Store Worth Walking Into

The walk to the studios goes past walls of guitars, amplifiers and instruments. A student who arrives inspired practices differently from one who walks into a bare hallway.

📅

A Flexible Program

Thirty, forty five or sixty minute lessons across seven days. Late afternoons, evenings, and full weekend availability that works around Saturday sports and family plans.

📍

We're Close To You

Under ten minutes from La Cañada High, St. Francis and Flintridge Prep, and from the elementary schools as well. Close enough to fit into a normal weekday.

🎓

Accredited Instructors

Our teachers hold degrees from prestigious university music programs, and several work regularly with advanced students. Read any instructor's background before you commit.

🎤

Working Musicians

Our instructors are not only teachers. They perform, record and tour, which means students are learning from people who use these skills professionally every week.

Questions from La Cañada Families

The things parents ask us most often.

Under ten minutes from most of La Cañada Flintridge. We are at 2415 Honolulu Ave in Montrose, in the middle of the shopping park.
Yes. Several of our instructors work regularly with advanced players, including students preparing college and conservatory auditions. Tell us where your student is currently at and we will match them with someone who teaches at that level.
Readiness varies enormously from one child to the next. Piano and violin are often workable from around six. Guitar and drums generally want a bit more physical size. Give us a call, describe your child, and we will give you a straight answer rather than simply signing you up.
Our teacher match quiz covers instrument, age, goals and availability in a couple of minutes. If you would rather talk it through, call the shop. With twenty instructors on the roster, the match matters, and our staff know all of them.
A good portion of our students are adults. Some are picking up an instrument for the first time, some are returning to one they abandoned decades ago, and some started because their child did.
Pianos and drum kits live in the studios, so nothing to carry for those. Everything else the student brings. We rent and sell instruments here as well, so there is no need to buy before you know whether it will stick.
