What Is Project Rockband?

Project Rockband takes students out of the practice room and puts them on a stage. Over twelve weeks, players are grouped into small bands, choose their songs, and rehearse together every week until they perform live at Grayson's. It is the part of playing music that private lessons alone cannot teach: locking in with other people, reading the room, and finding out what you sound like in front of an audience.

🎤

Performance Focused

Students build the skills a live show demands. Timing, dynamics, cues, stage presence, and the confidence that only comes from playing in front of people.

🤝

Collaboration

This is not a class where you learn the songs. It is a space to practice performing as a group, listening to the players around you, and experiencing what it feels like to be in a band.

🎯

Independence

Students learn their parts during private lessons or at home and arrive at each rehearsal prepared, the same way a working musician shows up ready to play.

How It Works

Four steps from first rehearsal to the final downbeat.

1

Get Placed in a Band

Students are grouped by age, instrument, and experience so every band is balanced and everyone has a real part to play.

2

Choose the Songs

Each band picks from a curated song list and agrees together on which tracks to learn.

3

Rehearse Every Week

Weekly sessions focus on the live performance skills that private lessons do not cover: timing, dynamics, cues, and confidence.

4

Play the Show

The program ends with a casual live show right here at Grayson's, in front of friends and family.

Is My Child Ready?

Project Rockband is a good fit for students who match the following.

Six Months of Lessons

Students with at least six months of private instruction have the foundation to keep up in a group setting.

Any Rock Instrument

Guitarists, bassists, drummers, vocalists, and keyboard players all have a place in the lineup.

Ready for the Stage

Children and teens who love the idea of playing with other musicians and getting real stage time.

Not sure whether your child is ready? Ask their instructor or reach out to us. We are happy to help you decide.

Enrollment note: Project Rockband is open only to students currently enrolled in private lessons at Grayson's Tune Town. Spaces are limited and bands are finalized on a first come, first served basis.
