Our Story

Since 1953, music has been at the heart of Grayson’s Tune Town.
What began as a humble record shop founded by Val Grayson in Montrose, California, has grown into one of Los Angeles’ longest-standing family-owned music institutions. From the very beginning, Val built his reputation on honesty, service, and a love for music. Those same values are alive in our shop today, carried forward by the fourth generation of the Grayson family.

A Legacy of Instruments

Over the decades, Grayson’s has evolved from vinyl records to fine instruments, and today we proudly represent some of the most iconic names in music: Fender, Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Gretsch, Eastman, Yamaha, and many more. Whether you’re chasing a Custom Shop masterpiece, discovering your first guitar, or expanding your collection, our curated selection reflects both tradition and innovation.

Lessons That Inspire

Our lesson school is one of the largest in the area, with hundreds of weekly students and instructors who are not only seasoned performers but also passionate educators. We offer lessons in guitar, piano, voice, drums, violin, brass, woodwinds, and more. Each program is personalized - whether you’re a complete beginner, prepping for an audition, or looking to sharpen your craft, we meet you where you are and guide you toward your goals.

We believe lessons should be more than instruction - they should be transformative experiences that build confidence, creativity, and lifelong appreciation for music.
