Worth the Drive from Burbank

A real music store, a short trip east.

Grayson's Tune Town has been on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose since 1953, run by four generations of the same family. For most of Burbank we are fifteen to twenty minutes away, and a good number of Burbank families have decided the trip is worth making every week.

What makes it worth it is the place itself. Our ten studios are inside a working music store, so students come in past the guitars, amps and drum kits, and strings, books, rentals and repairs are handled at the same counter. Several of our instructors write, record and perform professionally, including work in film music and with major recording artists, which will not surprise anyone who lives in Burbank.

We teach guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, piano, voice, drums, violin, brass, woodwinds and music production. Around twenty instructors across ten studios, seven days a week. Online lessons are available for the weeks when the drive does not work.

Why Burbank Families Make the Trip

Six reasons students keep coming back.

🏦

Since 1953

Four generations of the same family, in the same neighborhood, on the same street. We now teach the children of students we taught years ago.

✨

A Store Worth Walking Into

Students come in through a room full of guitars, amps and instruments on their way to the studios. It is hard to overstate what that does for a young musician compared with a plain rented room.

📅

A Flexible Program

Thirty, forty five or sixty minute lessons, seven days a week. Weekday afternoons through evenings, weekends all day, and online lessons when you need them.

📍

Closer Than You Think

Fifteen to twenty minutes from most of Burbank, and Montrose is an easy, walkable place to spend a half hour while you wait.

🎓

Accredited Instructors

Our teachers hold degrees from prestigious university music programs. You can read every instructor's background and training before you book a single lesson.

🎤

Working Musicians

Most of our instructors still perform, record and gig around Los Angeles. Students learn from people actively doing the thing they are being taught to do.

Questions from Burbank Families

The things parents ask us most often.

Fifteen to twenty minutes from most of Burbank, depending on traffic and which side of town you are on. We are at 2415 Honolulu Ave in Montrose, in the middle of the shopping park.
It depends far more on the child than the birthday. Piano and violin often work from around six. Guitar and drums usually want a little more size and hand strength. Call us and describe your child. We have had this conversation a few thousand times and we will tell you honestly if we think it is early.
Two ways. You can take our teacher match quiz, which asks about instrument, age, goals and schedule, or you can simply call and describe what you are after. Our staff know every instructor on the roster and will point you at the right one.
Yes, and more than people expect. Complete beginners in their fifties, players returning after thirty years away, and parents who decided to learn alongside their child.
Yes. Online lessons are available, and some families use them on busy weeks and come in person the rest of the time. Ask about it when you inquire and we will tell you which instructors teach online.
Of course. Stop in during store hours, look at the rooms, and ask us anything. Most families find it easier to decide once they have stood in the space.
