Grayson's Tune Town is in Montrose, in the foothills above Glendale, about fifteen minutes from Eagle Rock and Highland Park and about twenty from Silver Lake and Echo Park. Our family has run the store since 1953, and every repair is done in-house by our own technicians.

Players come to us from all over Los Angeles for the same reasons: setups that include a fret crown and light fret level every time, a full published price list, real structural work on broken headstocks and cracked tops, and a shop that has been answering the same phone number for decades.

Common Questions

Where are you located?

We are at 2415 Honolulu Ave in Montrose, in the northeast corner of Los Angeles near the 2 and 210 freeways. About fifteen minutes from Eagle Rock and Highland Park and about twenty from Silver Lake, Echo Park and downtown.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Bring your instrument in during store hours, Monday through Friday 10 to 7 and Saturday 9 to 5. We will look it over and give you a quote before any work starts.

What is included in a setup?

Along with the restring, action adjustment and intonation, we crown and lightly level the frets on every guitar that comes in for a setup, something many shops skip or charge much more for. We also clean and hydrate the fingerboard, adjust the nut slots and saddle, tighten the hardware, and do whatever else the guitar needs to play as well as it can.

How long does a setup take?

Setups typically run 1.5 to 2 weeks depending on the season. With the $50 rush, a setup typically takes 2 to 3 days. Restrings and quick adjustments are usually same or next day.

What instruments do you work on?

Electric and acoustic guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles and pedalboards, vintage and modern.

Are parts included in the price?

No. Our prices are for labor. Pickups, tuners and other parts are extra, and we will tell you the total before we start. The full price list is on our repair page.
