Background: Reade Pryor grew up in Denver, Colorado where he began playing drums at age nine. He moved to Los Angeles to attend USC’s Thornton School of Music, where he studied with drumming legends Peter Erskine (Weather Report, Steely Dan), Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter), and Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson, George Duke). An active professional drummer, Reade’s teaching draws on his wealth of playing experience. He has worked with artists such as Karmina (CBS Records), Josiah Leming (Warner Bros), Josh Kelley, The Rising Sound (Jaggo/Universal), Mighty Six Ninety (Invisible DJ/Sony) and many others. Reade’s playing can also be heard on several film soundtracks including “Sidney White” and “American Pie: The Naked Mile,” as well as in the theme for Major League Soccer. Reade helps his students develop not only strong fundamental skills but also a love for drumming in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere.
